May 9, 2012 - Is the charger is meant for apple devices ? I see same problem with my HTC Desire's charging cable plugged into an iphone charger. Charging still happens slowly but the HTC's touch screen cant be during. I guess it has something to do with apple's reinterpretation of the USB spec.
May 14, 2011 - I had this happen to my lg rythem. It made the touch screen buttons go crazy. I suggest you dont use that charger. I had to buy a new phone :)
Apr 12, 2011 - Base on my experienced, this happens due to the different phase of the electricity supply. Normally for house hold a single phase(220-240Volts) is use out of the 3 phase - red, yellow & blue.
Your house might be one of the colors. Try bring it to a friend house or a different area or estates and try it. You'll be surprise that the cheapo charger that u bought is working well with your Desire.
Aug 22, 2010 - I had exactly the same results with a $4 charger from eBay. I bought a $30 AC-10A charger from Nokia and it works perfectly. I guess EMC shielding comes at a cost!
The seller offered a new charger, but I think it was just going to be the same rubbish. Yes it put out 5V/500mA, but I doubt the CE mark was legit based on the interference.
I charge my desire overnight, and using JuicePlotter I can see that the battery does not get hot.
Aug 8, 2010 - I am having the same problem with a similar charger, at first I thought my Desire has developed problems, but now I realize it is the charger.
Jul 24, 2010 - When a person have so much time to use his phone (HTC DESIRE) as the desire running time is quite good, so who would use it with a plugged on battery, in my case I would rather switch off the phone, charge it fully and than will use it for good, so hopefully it wont give me any sort of issues, SO WHY TURNING ON AND USE IT?
Jul 12, 2010 - Also, one of the best advices for anyone with a desire is: don't let it go down..just charge 40/50% is fine and NEVER let it be charging overnight. It makes the battery(and phone) temp go higher and high temperatures is a battery killer.
Just charge it and once the green light shows, disconnect.
Also, every 30 charges or so, charge it full and discharge fully, so that the juice meter gets calibrated.
Jul 12, 2010 - I've actually been impressed by the battery. It's true that if you have most things turned on and take it out of pocket often, it doesn't last long(although I get to the end of most days +40/50%), but I recently tried to minimize touching it, everything turned off and after close to 70hours after last charge it was still ~70%. Makes me believe in their 340 hours on standby. This is with everything turned off and fewwww, very fast calls. Also, GSM...3g eats a lot of battery.
Jul 11, 2010 - the desire is somewhat hard on battery usage so it's good to have chargers everywhere you might need one and also one that can charge a battery out of the desire.
