From the New Zealand domestic HRV Twenty20 competition. This is the most incredible catch I have ever seen. Bevan Small catches the ball in the air while crossing over the boundary rope, before hitting the ground he throws the ball to Michael Mason who takes the catch. More info below. Ok, for those who actually read the full description, here are a few things that people seem to be commenting on. 1. The Northern Districts team wear pink in support of the Breast Cancer Foundation. 2. When Mason & Small high five, it's NOT 6 runs. The catch has already been completed and the ball is now dead.....look up the rules on catching. 3. Sorry all you Sri Lanka fans, this is better than the Angelo Mathews catch, as in this one the catcher has to leap, catch the ball and throw before hitting the ground. In Angelo's catch, he caught the ball, took a couple of steps then threw just as he was crossing over the boundary. 4. For those who don't know the game of cricket and want to know why the 1st guy didn't just take the catch. In cricket, if during the act of catching the ball you make contact with the boundary rope or the ground on the other side of the boundary and the ball is still in contact with you, it is deemed the ball has gone over, which is 6 runs and can't be given out. By throwing the ball back in field before hitting the ground, the fielder has saved 6 runs. As the ball was then caught without having touched the ground or a fielder touching the ground on the other side of the boundary, the catch is legal and is therefore given out. Less

May 17, 2012 - The fielders don't just stand still, they are always on the move. Even if they don't have to run to chase down the ball, the fielders on the other side run to put themselves in line between the play who has the ball and the stumps (the upright sticks) so they can backup incase the closer fielders miss stopping the ball as it's thrown in. As for the batsmen, to score they have to run, sometimes sprint the 20 meters from 1 end to the other and if possible turn an easy 1 run into 2 by running hard.

May 17, 2012 - You know nothing about cricket. To start with, hitting the ball takes a lot more skill than any sport where you simply kick it...such as soccer (you would call football). The ball is coming at you at anything upto 160Km/h, while in the air it can move sideways, then as it hits the ground it can move either direction and bounce a different amount each time. The bowler expends a huge amount of energy to get the ball to such a speed....in a days play he may spend upto 2 hours bowling.

May 16, 2012 - hey mate, obviously touched a nerve there didn't I! I'm sorry that you like such a shite sport. I suggest you start watching or take up a real sport, perhaps one that involves more coordination than simply raising your stick 2 inches off the ground and patting a ball away. Another improvement would be to take up a sport where you are required to actually expend energy. Cricket is mostly a stationary, tedious game.

May 10, 2012 - Fuck off loser. No-one cares about the opinion of someone from France.....you wouldn't know real sport or sportsmanship if you saw it.

May 9, 2012 - holy fuck, is this the most amazing thing that has ever happened in cricket? What a shite sport! If you can call it a sport. Has to be the only sport in which the fans burn the same amount of calories as the players, more if they're restless. I reckon cricket was invented to make all other human endeavours look lively and exciting.

The guys referring to other links as best catch ever are lying themselves n they are well aware of it..... There was one blinder by NZ'er mathew Sinclair caught Mathew Hayden one handed at square leg boundary

Apr 3, 2012 - Baseball has nothing on cricket as American Football has nothing on Football (Soccer) . Americans just changed Cricket into a form that they can handle as cricket requires much more skill than baseball
