It's been a while since we've looked at anything for the HTC Wildfire S due to some release problems with accessories. Now that the dust has settled down a bit, we take a look at one of the rare brand names cases available - the Otterbox Commuter. Available in 2 colors, the Commuter case is a sturdy (albeit little bulky) layered case that should handle the majority of accidents out there for the diminutive Wildfire S. Due to the huge lip that is created from the case, as well as the included screen protector - even full frontal drops shouldn't be much of an issue. To that end, it's an Otterbox product with an excellent warranty, so don't be afraid to check this out. Just make sure it fits your "version" of the Wildfire S. Less

Mar 25, 2012 - (Had to reply in 2 posts due to the character limit) The slot was for the lanyard hole and microphone. I guessed otterbox did not include them as it would provide lesser protection. Here are PDFs of the intl and T-Mobile v. of the Wildfire S, if someone ever needs it: T-Mobile: bit. ly/ nID6NK Intl: bit. ly/ H3LjRA

Mar 25, 2012 - After some research, I've noticed just 2 differences between the intl version and T-Mobile version of the Wildfire. The T-Mobile v. has a oval-like shape in between the power button and 3.5mm headset jack. And the 2nd one, which I guessed is the main reason, was because the lip is longer on the T-Mobile version as the logo was on it. Perhaps the otterbox case will interfere with the touch buttons when the case is put on the former.

Mar 25, 2012 - We've never found out the reason behind this because HTC didn't get back to us, and information online is spotty on the subject. From what we can tell (and it's just a guess), is that there's a slot on the bottom right of the International version that needs to be exposed. You can see it on the Barely There case from Case-Mate for the intl version of the Wildfire S. But that's all we know unfortunately.

Mar 25, 2012 - From the otterbox website, it shows that the otterbox case is not compatitable with the international version of HTC Wildfire S. Why is that so?

Mar 24, 2012 - Thanks for the prompt and detailed reply! The dimensions are the same, and I will be buying on eBay :).
DayDealOnDisplay Says:
Mar 24, 2012 - If you can, please compare the dimensions of the retail store phone version in your area to the Otterbox supported Wildfire S version here: T-Mobile Wildfire S 101.3 x 59.4 x 12.4 mm We would advise double checking if at all possible. In the US, T-Mobile / Virgin Mobile USA / MetroPCS should carry the same model.

Mar 24, 2012 - Hi, may I know if this will fit on the wildfire s bought at any retail store?

Dec 12, 2011 - We got conflicting information regarding the size of the HTC Wildfire S. Most official sites say that they're all the same size, while others state that there are very minor differences between the carrier types. We would suggest contacting Otterbox Directly to get their official stance on whether or not it will fit your phone. We assume it should ourselves, but we can't verify since we don't have the Prepaid version.

Dec 12, 2011 - will this fit the tmobile unlimited data talk and text plan version of the wildfire? or the virgin mobile prepaid version?

Nov 27, 2011 - nice review. bought one of the wildfire s phones for virgin mobile today for $99 at Radio Shack. then went back to get this otterbox case. the device feels super cheap without a case. Radio Shack actually had the case on sale too for $25. the case rocks! super protection.
